International American human rights organizations and Congressman Jim McGovern , Chair of the Lantos Commission for Human Rights in Congress, condemned the Sudanese government’s detention of citizens without fair trials in an era that is supposed to respect and guarantee human rights and allow freedoms.
The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the American HDI , Dr. Al Khalafalla, said that the new era in the transitional period that Sudan is going through requires the security services and the Attorney General to guarantee human rights and that the detainees are brought to fair trials.
Khalafalla expressed his reservations about the arrests that Sudan witnessed in the past few months , and pointed out that the arrests reached even young participants in the revolution, such as Mummer Musa , head of the United Popular Movement, and Michael Boutros, a young leader , without presenting fair trials or revealing the circumstances of their detention, and they have so far spent nearly eight months without bringing them to a fair trial.
